I’m Catherine, a neurodivergent picture book writer. Inspired by my journey from undiagnosed child and young adult to empowered autistic adult.

My stories deal with how it feels to be different

They show that the strongest friendships can be made by bonding over what makes us unique. They are positive and uplifting and will touch the hearts of any reader, whether they are neurodivergent or neurotypical.

I’ve honed my skills through writing children’s short stories and poetry. This led me to the joyful experience of cracking the code to creating picture books; short word count, intriguing, appeal to the youngest audience and with a perfect ending! The challenge is both irresistable and exhasperating in equal measure and I can’t get enough of it.

I am now an alumni of Golden Egg Academy, having completed their excellent 12 month Picture Book Course. Putting into practice all that I have learnt, I hope to finalise my portfolio of strong, publishing industry ready picture book stories to lead me into the next phase of my writing journey.
